Completeness and Correspondence in Chellas-Segerberg Semantics

چکیده
We investigate a lattice of conditional logics described by a Kripke type semantics, which was suggested by Chellas and Segerberg – Chellas-Segerberg (CS) semantics – plus 30 further principles. We (i) present a non-trivial frame-based completeness result, (ii) a translation procedure which gives one corresponding trivial frame conditions for arbitrary formula schemata, and (iii) nontrivial frame conditions in CS semantics which correspond to the 30 principles.

Possible Worlds Semantics for Indicative and Counterfactual Conditionals? - A Formal Philosophical Inquiry into Chellas-Segerberg Semantics
Conditional logic is a sub-discipline of philosophical logic. It aims to provide an alternative account of conditionals in contrast to the traditional material implication analysis. The present thesis focuses on a specific possible worlds semantics for conditional logics, the Chellas-Segerberg (CS) semantics (Chellas, 1975; Segerberg, 1989), which has not been widely investigated, save by Nejdl...
متن کاملOn the Completeness of Dynamic Logic
The impossibility of semantically complete deductive calculi for logics for imperative programs has led to the study of two alternative approaches to completeness: “local” semantic completeness on the one hand (Cook’s relative completeness, Harel’s Arithmetical completeness), and completeness with respect to other forms of reasoning about programs, on the other. However, local semantic complete...
متن کاملElementary proof of the completeness o [ PDL
We give an elementary proof of the completeness of the Segerberg axioms for Propositional Dynamic Logic.
متن کاملPropositional Q-Logic
Topic of the paper is Q-logic—a logic of agency in its temporal and modal context. Q-logic may be considered as a basal logic of agency since the most important stit-operators discussed in the literature can be defined or axiomatized easily within its semantical and syntactical framework. Its basic agent dependent operator, the Q-operator (also known as ∆or cstit-operator), which has been discu...
متن کاملFrom onions to broccoli: generalizing Lewis' counterfactual logic
We present a generalization of Segerberg’s onion semantics for belief revision, in which the linearity of the spheres need not occur. The resulting logic is called broccoli logic. We provide a minimal relational logic, introducing a new neighborhood semantics operator. We then show that broccoli logic is a well-known conditional logic, the Burgess-Veltman minimal conditional logic. Belief revis...
